We got them over here in chassahowitzka wildlife refuge,I live right next to the 85,000 acres,we hear wood knocking and whoops all the time and my wife said she heard them mumbling to each other Tuesday night when she let the dogs out.we walk them on leashes all the time,never let them run loose since we’ve been hearing the skunk apes

You missed one important point all the animals that looked directly at the lens were nightime shots those that didnot look were day shots so perhaps they are reacting to the infrared light used at night.

It’s the animals seeing the soft red IR light. Deer, coyotes, ect. With exceptional night vision can get quite spooked at the soft glow of the red LEDs. I even have had animals at night look directly at the cameras with “black light” LEDs. Also, some animals are just plain curious. I had a deer spend about 5 minutes investigating one of my cameras at pretty much paint blank range. Funny footage. Your captures resemble deer antlers to me and maybe a coon investigating. Raccoon are well known to use trail cams as perches. Personally, if I was trying to capture something in the crypto area of all things weird, I would be shooting video- period.
